2. Stop The Syrup

Waffles and pancakes are popular breakfast foods, but once you the add the syrup they become very unhealthy. Try eating them with some fruit instead.

3. Beware Of Processed Meats

Bacon and sausage are popular breakfast treats but they have a very high saturated fat content which can contribute to heart disease.

1. Eggs are a great source of protein, avoid frying them and have them poached or boiled.

2. Lean white meats such as chicken and turkey and low fat ham are tasty alternatives to bacon and sausage. Avoid frying foods and grill them instead.

3. Seek out whole grain foods which are high in fibre, lower cholesterol and great for your digestive system. Whole grain bread is a great choice and ideal with poached egg or a low fat margarine. The next time you are at the store, look for the breakfast cereals that are unsweetened and 100% whole grain.

4. Try adding a little fruit to your breakfast or for a mid morning snack. You should aim for five portions of fruit and veg a day. Enjoy a delicious fruit smoothie or a grapefruit, unsweetened fruit juice also counts towards your five portions a day.
