The Dukan Diet Review - What Is The Dukan Diet And Does It Work?

The Dukan diet is a four-step programme designed to help you to lose weight quickly and then to keep the weight off. Already, immensely successful in France, home of the Dukan diet, the original book written by Dr. Pierre Dukan has been translated into twenty languages and is popular in over twenty countries. In this review of the diet, I will be looking at what is involved, how the diet is supposed to work and whether or not it does work.

The four phases of the Dukan diet can be considered as four different diets, each suited to the different needs a person has as they progress with their weight loss. Unlike almost other diet, whose concern is merely losing excess weight, the Dukan diet has been designed to prevent the biggest pitfall in weight loss, putting it all back on again as soon a the diet is over.



The first stage is known as The Attack Phase. This is the toughest part of the diet but only lasts between two and seven days (depending on the weight loss goal). During this stage you can eat as much as you like of the seventy-two protein rich foods allowed on the diet.

The next stage is The Cruise Phase. As well as eating all the permitted protein rich food, you may know add as many of the twenty-eight different varieties of vegetable permitted on the Dukan diet as you like.

Once you have reached your weight loss goal, you now turn your attention to not putting back on all the weight you've just lost. During this process you can begin to add new foods to your regime, such as bread, potatoes and cheese. This phase is called The Consolidation Phase. And during this phase you are allowed two celebration meals each week. These meals can be made up of any foods you feel like eating.

The final phase of the Dukan diet The Stabilization Phase. You may now live without putting on weight whilst eating what food you like. The only rule is that one day of the week should be protein-rich food only. These days have become famous in France as 'protein Thursdays'.

When I first started the diet back in May 2010, very few people in the English speaking world had heard of the Dukan. I tried it and discovered it to be the easiest diet I had ever attempted. I experienced fast weight loss with no hunger or food cravings.
