Best Way to Lose Weight - Avocado Nutrients

I first came across the Avocado fruit when I visited South Africa to spend some time with my parents in law. What a wonderful surprise to be so satisfied off so little a morsel! While it is true the Avocado is oily and calorie dense, one should not worry about putting weight on for the simple reason that your appetite becomes so suppressed after an avocado breakfast that you do not feel like binging at all during the rest of the morning!

It's a smart way to lose weight! Avocados contain healthy fats and oils such as the Omega 9 which is found in olive oil and is believed to decrease the levels of bad cholesterol! Avocado also contains beta-sitosterol, which prevents the body from absorbing cholesterol from your foods! Amazingly one of the properties of Avocado is its ability to help the body absorb more nutrients from its food! This reminds me of the same unique property found in Black Pepper. Imagine what a combination of Avocado and Black Pepper would do for you!

Poor absorption is behind so many diseased conditions! If we now consider the nutrients found in this fruit and combine it with our understanding that this fruit increases the bodies powers of absorption then we can quickly realize how essential it is to make Avocado nutrients apart of your normal diet and dietary lose weight plans. Some of Avocados nutrients are as follows:

Copper Beta-carotene Folic acid Iron Phosphorus Potassium Panothenic Acid Niacin Vitamin E Vitamin K

Avocados are also very high in Magnesium, which most women are short of and which mineral is reputed to be a preventative against strokes. Magnesium relaxes the muscles and may aid in you getting a good night sleep. We tend to associate Bananas with the mineral potassium, which is true since an average size Banana contains about 500mg of potassium. Most people do not realize that Avocados of average size contain around 1200mg of potassium! One of the drawbacks of eating an Avocado is that you may not wish to eat a full one, hence you store the 2nd half in a fridge, only to find in the morning it as turned black, just as an Apple turns brown once you have bitten into it. To better preserve your Avocado once cut opened, scape out the contents into a dish and squeeze a fresh Lemon and add the lemon juice to the Avocado.

While you are at it add some Black Pepper as well, this will then preserve your Avocado spread for several days! To finish off this article I would like to mention some other names this fruit is known by: "Testicle" by the Ancient Indians and "Alligator Pear" At you local supermarket; some kinds of Avocados do look leathery, hence the name Alligator Pear and I would imagine the name given to it by the Ancient Indians is descriptive of the way this fruit dangles from its evergreen tree, although you cannot help wonder what goes on in people minds! I think noticing that the shape corresponded to that of a Pear, sounds more positive. Which would you rather be thinking of when eating an avocado - a Pear or a... I will leave you to decide that one! If you are trying to find a way to lose weight, it is vital that your diet contains nutrients as found in the Avocado.
