Why Traditional Fried Foods are Bad

Traditional fried foods are unhealthy for several reasons. First of all the meat, poultry or fish being fried is usually low quality, hormone-filled products. Secondly the oil used to fry them in is bad for your health such as vegetable oil or becomes toxic at hot temperatures like olive oil. Another reason why traditional fried foods are bad for you is because the products use to bread them with such as grain flour and bread crumbs are filled with wheat and gluten, which is highly discouraged on the Paleo diet.

So How Do We Make Healthy Fried Foods

Paleo recipes are known for switching out traditionally used ingredients for more natural, healthier options. For starters, the Paleo recipes always call for the most natural ingredients you can get your hands on, so this means cooking with grass fed meat, free range poultry and wild fish. In addition to this, instead of using grain flour or bread crumbs to bread your meat, poultry or fish with we use almond flour, almond meal or coconut flour. And the last thing we do to turn a bad fried dish from bad to good is to use cooking fat that is natural and will not become toxic in hot temperatures such as ghee, tallow or coconut oil.

Almond Crusted Chicken Breast

So, by now you are probably wondering how I to make this almond crusted chicken breast yourself so here we go.

Ingredients: All you need is chicken breast, one egg, almond flour, coconut oil and dried seasoning such as cumin, paprika, turmeric, pepper and sea salt.

Directions: First just cut the chicken breast into large strips, season the chicken with any dried seasonings you want such as the ones listed above. Season the almond flour as well so the crust can be nice a flavorful too. Next just scramble the egg in a separate bowl. After that you will need to dip the chicken into the egg to give is a nice sticky coat and then dip it in the almond flour making sure the surface of the chicken is completely covered; do the same thing for each chicken strip one at a time. After that put about 3 table spoons of coconut oil into a sauce pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place each chicken strip in the pan and let cook for about 4 minutes on each side.
