Healthy Smoothies Are a Successful Diet Control

We all know the "secret" to successful dieting; to lose weight, you have to eat less. But, if you eat less, you are hungry which, in turn; causes continued eating which means you don't lose weight! The other side of this argument is that, if you feel "full", you eat less because you don't have the "hunger edge" that you have to deal with.

So the challenge becomes one of finding interesting, tasty low calorie, high nutrient foods to keep you satisfied for longer periods to cut down or, hopefully, eliminate between meal snacking. I believe the answer to this challenge can be found by adding healthy smoothies to your daily meal plan in place of high calorie, fatty alternatives.

I believe that healthy smoothies are often the best food choice you can make for natural, effective weight control. All fruit smoothie recipes include ingredients that are vitamin rich, are good protein sources and give your body the fiber it needs to for healthy digestion. Fruit smoothie recipes can be made with fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, low fat or no fat milk, low fat yogurt, fruit juices, and even water in the form of ice cubes.

A smoothie mix is a very easy meal to include in your daily diet. Unlike diet products, there is no required recipe or combinations. Almost every fruit and vegetable can successfully be made into a tasty healthy smoothie. Smoothies can be made with a single fruit or a combination of several fruits and vegetables in a single recipe. While fresh fruit is preferred, there is nothing wrong with creating a smoothie using frozen ingredients either.

Really, about the only word of caution is to be aware that you control the number of calories in your recipes with the ingredients you choose. If you are making a yogurt smoothie, consider using low-fat or fat-free yogurts, and in place of whole milk, try soy or 2%. The amount of juice, milk or ice you add to a smoothie will be based on the texture and freshness of the fruit you use., as well if it the fruit is fresh or frozen.

Don't be afraid to experiment and even combine fruits and vegetables for some great flavors. For example, here is a surprisingly tasty recipe featuring pineapples, bananas, and spinach!

• 1 cup of pineapple chunks-fresh, frozen or canned
• 1 cup of spinach
• 1 banana
• 4 fresh mint leaves
• 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
• 1 cup of ice
• 1 teaspoon Mila chia seed to add rich nutrients and antioxidants

Put all ingredients into your blender and mix. Add up to 8 ounces of cold water to get the mix consistency you prefer. This recipe is great as a mid day meal.
