Hydroxycut: The Most Trendy Weight Loss Supplement

What is Hydroxycut?

Hydroxycut is a weight loss supplement brand offered in different forms such as shakes, gummies, tablets and pills. It contains the following ingredients: wild mint extract (vaccinium myrtillus), lady's mantle extract (alchemilla vulgaris), caffeine, wild olive extract (olea europaea) and komijn extract (cuminum cyminum). It also contains Vitamin C, calcium, and some other minor ingredients.

Does Hydroxycut Work?

Several studies were conducted that show Hydroxycut works for weight loss but were only posted on their web site and not published in any medical journals. Iovate Health Sciences International, the manufacturer, funded the said studies.

According to the Hydroxycut's manufacturer, a study that lasted 12 weeks shows that dieters consuming the key ingredients that include caffeine which are in Hydroxycut lost about 20 pounds on average, compared to those taking a placebo losing only 1.7 pounds.

Another study was conducted which shows that individuals who took Hydroxycut with caffeine lost an average of 16.5 pounds and an average of 2.12 pounds while taking placebo for 8 weeks. Both group of participants cut calorie intakes as well.

Is Hydroxycut Safe?

Iovate Health Sciences International says raw ingredients are the main ingredients through extensive quality assurance procedures.

Iovate recalled Hydroxycut in 2009 after the Food and Drug Administration got reports of seizures, liver problems, and rhabdomyolysis, a muscle-damaging condition. Those ingredients found to be damaging are no longer on the market. Not like drug manufacturers, the makers of dietary supplements don't have to demonstrate that their products are effective or safe before selling them.

Be sure to seek medical attention if any unusual symptoms take place and Hydroxycut shouldn't be used by anyone under 18. It is also advisable to consult a doctor prior using the supplement if they or any member of the family have been diagnosed or treated for with any health condition.

Some users reported Hydroxycut side effects that may include yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, kidney failure, elevated liver enzymes, seizures, liver failure and/or injury requiring liver transplant, cardiovascular disorders and liver damage.

Is Hydroxycut really the best choice?

The possible dangers of Hydroxycut were at first reported several years ago, but the manufacturers failed to caution consumers of these risks and didn't take steps to correct potentially hazardous side effects. And although it is advertised as consisting of natural ingredients, not all natural substances are harmless, and some of the main ingredients may not have been properly researched.

There are plenty of safer fat-burning products proven to effectively lose weight, boost metabolism, increase energy, improve mood, and control appetite, such as BELDT: Force Thermogenic, which can be purchased directly through the website or Amazon.com. But as with any health product, you should always consult with a certified medical practitioner to discuss any possible allergies or other reactions particular to you.
