Online Training Vs. Training Hands-on For Injection of Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botox injections are the more common name for botulinum toxin injections, which are a very popular cosmetic procedure these days. From treating fine lines to relaxing muscles and even treating complex medical conditions, Botox injections have become part and parcel of advanced medical treatment. There are high standards for the training procedures for those who deliver Botox injections, and they are subjected to these in order to be certified. However, in our ever growing internet world, online training has now become a common path that many take to obtain certification.

But does online training help when it comes to Botox injections? The other option is to learn in-person. These methods of learning are actually accentuated by each other. We will examine this in more detail.

Training online

Training over the internet has some advantages including being able to work at your own speed and when the time is best for learning. One can view live seminars and what are called webinars, as well as videos and other kinds of courses that are available online. DVDs are another option, and these are provided by many training courses.

While the above makes online training very appealing, it is important to realize that Botox injections are a hands-on procedure. There really is no way to learn all that is necessary without trying it personally, watching it is not enough. For example, one cannot become a dentist by watching videos on how to perform different dental procedures. It takes practice with a doctor present to supervise and give criticism in order to gain the skill needed to do the procedure on one's own.

In-person training

Hands-on training is where it the trainee has an opportunity to perform this procedure on either a volunteer or a training dummy. This form of training is always performed under supervision until the supervisor (usually a physician) is confident that the trainee can perform the procedure independently. The advantage of this procedure is that the trainee can learn from an expert and also from the mistakes that they make; online, this kind of critical feedback can't happen so not as much knowledge is gained.

The challenge for hands-on training is organizing the required professionals to be present for the process. These experts have busy schedules, and it takes some effort to arrange the time needed to teach trainees at the seminars. The venue will need to be organized and this sort of activity can take time. But if one would consider the bigger picture i.e. patient safety and outcome, there is no doubt that hands-on training is by far the better option when compared to online training.

Combining hands-on with online training

Learning to administer Botox injections is best done by using both of these methods. Online training programs can help allow trainees to read theory and watch certain training videos prior to attending the hands-on training program. After viewing and learning from the internet, the trainee can go to the hands-on training with sufficient knowledge to go through the processes much easier. Today, these methods combined are the most effective to train. Animations are now created that show the procedures in vivid detail, this will ensure that a trainee has the necessary information at hand for when they go to the Botox injection hands-on training in the future.

Synopsis

Both hands-on and online training should be utilized for best results in learning the procedures regarding Botox injections. Both methods have their unique advantages, and when they are used in conjunction with each other, the most is gained by trainees learning Botox treatment methods.
