Looking your Best for your Wedding

By Anne Fennell

As wedding season approaches, many couples are putting the final touches on their plans for this momentous occasion. On this big day, it's natural for everyone to want to look their best. Hundreds of dollars is sometimes spent by both women and men on beauty products and skincare treatments, in the run-up to their wedding.

The lead up to a wedding can be stressful, so a back massage or facial is a good relaxation method. You can unwind by going to a spa or getting your nails done, even if all the planning can get extremely hectic. But, consider another option that is growing in popularity in the wedding scene. To look their best, more and more brides and grooms to-be are turning to Botox. At a wedding, there is a lot of pressure to impress; you want to feel great in your skin, especially as the photographs will be with you forever.

How long before your wedding should you wait before having Botox?

The Botox injections should be done one month before the big day, at least. A test-run is important; even though Botox treatment is quick and safe, if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous. We advise you to have it done at least a month before though, because it can take about 7-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment.

Also, you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and sauna's for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure- so take this into account when arranging your wedding activities like stags and stagettes.

During the injection, you might feel minor pain or tenderness, but other than this Botox injections are pretty much pain-free. Some minor swelling might occur right after the injection; but after about 30 minutes this normally settles. It is relatively uncommon to experience slight bruising the day after, but this is another reason why advance treatment is recommended.

The frown, forehead and eye wrinkles are generally treated sucessfully with Botox. You may find yourself overwhelmed with emotions and this may be evident in your facial expressions throughout this big day. If you want to get rid of some wrinkles before your wedding, Botox can help you do away with frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, crow's feet around your eyes, or unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead.

Hyperhidrosis treatment, also known as excessive sweating treatment, is another treatment which is becoming popular to have before a wedding or other significant occasion. A likely problem on an important occasion, such as your wedding, is excessive sweating; some people are prone to it, in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion.

Make sure, if you are are considering Botox and are engaged to marry, that you have it at least one month prior to give enough response time for your muscles, and to get the benefit of the full effect.
