If there is an effective exercise to lose belly fat it is the "kettlebell"  swing. This lift is as magnificent as it gets when it comes down to your belly busting results. I remember the first time I executed this lift. I was using a 20kg (44lb.) bell to do the swing lift. After only executing 10 to 15 reps my heart rate was so high I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. It was surprisingly challenging. The challenge though is what makes this lift so spectacular in terms of eliminating belly and total body fat!



Fast forward to today I can now swing the "Beast" 48kg (106 lbs) for 20 to 30 reps with solid force and with complete strength and purpose. This is the key to kettlebell swings. You not only get the benefit of getting stronger, but you will obtain a tremendous level of cardiovascular conditioning and significantly reduce your body fat.

The key to this lift is that it is performed by you having to engage your hips and knees in order to drop the bell down in a controlled swing between your legs. From here you have to extend at these joints to propel the bell up in an arc like fashion to at least chest level. This flexion and extension of both your hips and knees is continuous so that the momentum of swinging the kettlebell is constant. As you move the bell along the arc of the swing you must keep your abs tight and your shoulders retracted throughout the entire process. This constant tension and total body exertion is where you stand to eliminate a ton of calories which in turn will torch your gut right out of existence!
