Discovering the Diets That Work and Avoiding Those That Never Will

Part One: Filtering The Fads.
With the plethora of dieting information becoming available month by month on the web and in magazines, discovering diets that work and committing to the best diet for your goals can be a seriously daunting task indeed.

It comes as no surprise that there are such vast amounts of diet and well-being options in the marketplace; Consumers spend on average $50 billion on weight loss, well-being and dieting goods & services on a yearly basis.



But for the inexperienced dieter, this is exactly where the confusion starts, with hype often succeeding over actual results. This can create a sure path to failure for many dieters before they even start.

Hopefully I can clear up the diet myths and assist you on the right track to following the real diets that work.

Quick-fix diets (often called fad diets) are easily recognized and in my experience as a health consultant in this field, must be avoided.

Fashion diets usually originate from either acclaimed diet "gurus" or high profile celebrities making claims of a diet discovery that has caused them to substantially trim down, become very much healthier, or even lose a sizable amount of weight in a very short space of time. You of course will have seen these types of diets often, usually published in weekly gossip magazines and frequently being praised on television talk shows - occasionally even in broadcast news.

As someone who is well versed in the dieting and health industry, I'm about to lift the lid on Hollywood's often hushed diet secret and explain why the initial step in discovering the diets that work is to steer well clear of the media noise!

In my experience as a private health & nutrition advisor providing services to some very well known names, I've seen first hand the ground level personal and team work that goes into successful celebrity health and dieting. Let's also not forget the handsome amounts of money these individuals are prepared to put towards the professionals to make sure it's right the first time.

The majority of the time when a high profile individual is undertaking their diet in preparation for an important role or awards showcase, they'll take professional advice and coaching, are hand-held through nutritionally sound and proven diet regimes (the diets that work), and will happily pay a pretty penny for the guidance!

Then come the marketeers....

The fad diets that stars then lay claim to after realizing 'outstanding' results are time and time again nothing more than sponsorship deals and endorsement contracts created by management firms and advertising giants. The next that we hear, another fashion diet is bestowed with all the credit and hyped as the 'last diet you'll ever need'.

Just like many of us may have felt a bit disbelieving when top model Rachel Hunter claimed she was actually washing her hair with supermarket quality hair care products on a daily basis back in the 1990s, I think we can safely say that crash and fad diets are not what are causing celebrities to look fantastic in beach photos and on red carpets!
