Watch your favorites Biggest Loser episode on prime time TV and you'll get a glimpse of the "American Idols" of weight loss. The market has gotten so big, even celebrities have gotten into. Have you seen the latest Jenny Craig, or Nutrisystem commercials?

So what's the deal? If these people can do it, why haven't you done it yet? I think there are two factors behind this. For celebrities, they're getting paid to diet. If Jenny Craig pays Valerie Bertinelli a million dollars to "sponsor" her food system, then it might convince you to give Jenny Craig a shot. That's why a big company like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers would do that. Once Valerie signed on the dotted line, you can bet Jenny Craig had a team of people making sure Valerie was doing all the right things, at exactly the right times.

And what about the regular people who lost a lot of weight? Well, the good news is; many of these people are just like you. They have families, jobs, and responsibilities. But there's one thing they had that really made the difference. They had a strong, burning desire to lose the weight.

And really this is the most important thing. Thee people were committed to losing the weight. Because of that commitment they were willing to do whatever it took to lose weight. They were willing to eat right. They were willing to exercise. They were will to forgo desserts (at certain times) because they wanted to drop the extra weight.

And let's make a valuable point here: It doesn't matter what your motivation is. Any motivation is good motivation as long as it prods you into action. Weight loss takes action. Lots and lots of action. You may have to adjust your mindset later on, but simply "getting moving" in the beginning is good enough, however you do it.

So the next time you see a success story. If it's a celebrity, just erase that image from your mind. That's not reality. But if you see a real person, take a closer look. Read what they say. And if you look close enough you'll see that what that person has done to lose weight is nothing super spectacular. But the one thing they did have is a strong desire to lose weight.
