Dukan Diet - Not Even Fit for the Duke

Thanks to a few words uttered by Prince William's bride, Kate Middleton, the Dukan Diet is the latest dieting craze. She claims to have lost five dress sizes on the diet, so it must be the answer, right? Well, yes, in a way. Like a lot of diets, this one will work. But, like all diets, this one won't last, nor is it healthy. Diets fail because they are never something you can or want to maintain forever. That is why it is called a "diet". Worst of all, the Dukan diet pays absolutely no attention to proper nutrition! Allow me to speak for a minute with the hope that I can convince you to "leapfrog" this dieting wave as it comes rolling through our lives. It will crash back into the sea soon enough.

Too Much Meat - Oooof!

The Dukan diet is popular because it allows you to eat as much as you want of any foods from a certain list. The list contains high protein foods (meats) and brans, foods that will fill you up fast. To stuff your belly with chicken is not a good idea. Meat contains absolutely no fiber, therefore it sits in your digestive tract until you give it some fiber to move things along. With this diet, you need an unusual amount of fiber to facilitate digestion. In the Dukan Diet book, the creator of this diet warns that you will likely suffer from bad breath, constipation, and indigestion. I'm going to give it to you straight: when you have bad breath, it means there is rotten food in your digestive system. Bad gas? Same thing. A healthy, balanced diet, on the other hand, does not have any side effects and makes you feel great and highly energized from the get-go.

No Love for Nutrients

The worst part about the Dukan diet, to me, is that it ignores proper nutrition all together. It is designed to help people lose weight in whatever form necessary. This supposedly intelligent "French physician" allows us to eat a diet rich in saturated fats and cholesterol, with absolutely no fiber. He ignores the fact that nutrients are the fuel that the body survives on. Protein and carbs are secondary. Without nutrients we become malnourished and vulnerable to all sorts of illnesses. This is advice that is no doubt making truly intelligent doctors and nutritionists very angry!

You Deserve Better

Forget about the fact that this diet has worked for that several attractive, famous women. They're constipated! Deep down, I bet you have an intuitive feeling that there is more to being healthy than this. Honor that feeling, for it is your subconscious speaking. Being healthy never involves using checklists and "eat 1 of these, but only 2 of these" approaches. Educate yourself on proper nutrition you will find that you can consume large amounts of fruits and vegetables and feel satiated after every meal. Watch body fat fall off as you effortlessly return to a normal and natural body weight, and feel more energized and mentally sharp than you ever have.
