Add Weight Loss Smoothies to Your Meal Plans

If you have too much fat on your frame and especially if there is more of it around your waist than other parts of your body then, statistically at least, you have a much higher risk for any number of health problems now, and later in life. These problems can include hypertension (high blood pressure) which is also known as the "silent killer" because it gives absolutely no warning before it kills you.

Try this: For the next two days write down absolutely everything you eat during the day. From the time you get up until you go to bed at night, make a record of everything you eat. After the two days are done, go online and research how many calories you ate in that 48 hour period. If you are like most, I almost guarantee you will be unpleasantly surprised.

The "secret" to losing weight is to take in fewer calories than you burn off in a day. The best way to begin to know where to cut down is to first know how much you are eating in the first place.

How sedentary are you? Do you get any physical exercise or do you fight for the parking space closest to the entrance? The other "secret" to losing weight is to increase your physical activity to help your body burn more calories daily. Any activity will do, walking, riding a bike, anything. Just do something for 30-40 minutes every day and you will be surprised at how much easier it will be to lose weight and keep the weight off.

These changes you make now will need to be kept in place for life. It won't due much good if you lose 5 pounds and then celebrate with chocolate cake and ice cream for the next week. Make your mantra "everything in moderation". Its OK to have cake but only once in a great while.

Once you have your two days worth of data then you are going to need to make some dietary changes. No more fast or processed food. That needs to be replaced with a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables so you can also get your cholesterol under control at the same time.

It really isn't that hard to get fruit and vegetables into your diet, just replace the fast food and processed food with smoothies. Smoothies can be made from just about any fruit or vegetable and even both together. When made with low-fat yogurt or low-fat milk smoothies are very low in calories while being very high in potassium, magnesium and dietary fiber.
